What Happened
The Purolator fuel filter is a safety device that helps keep fuel from leaking out of your vehicle. Unfortunately, some of these filters shipped with a faulty quick connector that might not fully attach to the tube, even if it looks secure.
Risk if Unfixed
If this connection fails, fuel could spill out and, if there's an ignition source nearby, a fire could break out.
Free Fix
Your dealer will replace the faulty filter with a new one, at no cost to you. They'll contact you to schedule the repair, and you can also contact UFI Filters USA at 800-230-5876 to ask about the recall.

CERTAIN AFTERMARKET FUEL FILTERS SOLD UNDER THE PUROLATOR BRAND NAME, P/N F65277, SHIPPED FROM JANUARY 16 THROUGH JUNE 2, 2006, FOR USE ON THE ABOVE LISTED PASSENGER VEHICLES. DUE TO INCORRECT DESIGN, THE QUICK CONNECTORS MAY NOT FULLY SEAT WITH THE TUBE INTERFACE, EVEN THOUGH THE PERSON MAKING THE CONNECTION MAY BELIEVE THAT THE QUICK CONNECTOR IS FULLY ATTACHED.

FAILURE OF THIS CONNECTION COULD LEAD TO FUEL SPILLAGE AND, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, A FIRE COULD OCCUR.

What Happened
The fuel tank in your Crown Victoria Police Interceptor is the part that stores gasoline. In high-speed rear-impact crashes, it could be damaged and catch fire.
Risk if Unfixed
If a high-speed rear-impact crash occurs, the fuel tank could get punctured and catch fire, posing a serious risk to you and others nearby.

FORD ALSO WILL BE OFFERING AN OPTIONAL TRUNK PACKAGE DESIGNED TO IMPROVE THE SAFE TRANSPORT OF SHARP-EDGED, HEAVY EQUIPMENT IN THESE VEHICLES.
