What Happened
The steering shaft in your vehicle is a crucial part that helps you steer. Dorman made some of these shafts between 2014 and 2015, and they might not be attached properly.
Risk if Unfixed
If the steering shaft fails on the road, you could lose control of your vehicle, which could lead to a serious crash.
Free Fix
Your dealer will swap out the faulty steering shaft for a new one, completely free. This is a no-cost repair and you should schedule it when you get the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
Dorman Products, Inc. (Dorman) is recalling certain model Dorman Steering Shafts, part number 425-359, Solutions Steering Shafts, part number 7-0359, and OE Solutions Steering Shafts, part number 425-359, manufactured April 17, 2014, to September 28, 2015. These aftermarket replacement steering shafts are sold for use in 1995-2002 Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis, and Lincoln Town Car vehicles. These steering shafts may separate during operation if the integral fastener is loose or missing and if the interfacing vehicle shaft is compressed in length.

If the shafts separate during vehicle operation, a loss of steering control would result, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
Original — Remedy
Dorman will notify owners, and dealers will replace the steering shaft, free of charge. The recall began on October 28, 2015. Owners may contact Dorman customer service at 1-800-523-2492, option 5.

What Happened
Your vehicle uses a fuel filter to keep dirt and debris out of your engine. The affected filter, made by Purolator, has a design flaw that could cause it to leak fuel if not properly connected.
Risk if Unfixed
If the filter leaks fuel and there's an ignition source, a fire could break out. This is a serious safety risk, especially if you're driving or near an open flame.
Free Fix
Your dealer will replace the faulty filter with a new one at no cost to you. They'll contact you with a replacement schedule, and you can also call UFI Filters USA at 800-230-5876 if you have any questions.

What Happened
The fuel tank in your Crown Victoria Police Interceptor is the part that holds the gasoline. Some older models (1992-2003) might not offer enough protection in a rear crash at high speeds.
Risk if Unfixed
If your vehicle is involved in a severe rear crash at high speed, the tank could puncture and catch fire, which could cause serious damage or injury.
Free Fix
Ford will install a protective shield around your fuel tank at no cost to you. They've already had these shields available since October, and you should have them installed as soon as possible to ensure your safety.
