ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING:INTERIOR/UNDER DASH

FORD MOTOR COMPANY
What Happened
In your police interceptor or commercial heavy-duty vehicle, there's a sound-insulating panel under the dashboard that's meant to keep the noise down. But at extremely high engine temperatures, this panel can sag and press against the catalytic converter.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, the insulator could catch fire, causing a burning smell, smoke, or even an actual fire. This could happen while you're driving, which is a serious safety risk.
Free Fix
Your Ford dealer will replace the old insulator with a new, redesigned one at no cost to you. Just schedule the repair when you get the recall notice.

Original — Risk if Unfixed
IF THIS OCCURS, THE INSULATOR MIGHT EXPERIENCE CHARRING OF THE OUTER LAYER, BURNING ODOR, OR SMOKE WHICH MAY ULTIMATELY RESULT IN A FIRE.
Original — Remedy
DEALERS WILL REMOVE THE EXISTING DASH INSULATOR AND INSTALL A REVISED DESIGN INSULATOR PAD FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JUNE 3, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FORD AT 1-800-392-3673.
