What Happened
The compression springs in your third-row seats are what keep your backrest firmly in place. In some 2019-2022 X7 models, one or more of these springs might not have been installed correctly, and could come loose over time.
Risk if Unfixed
If you're in a crash and the seat backrest isn't locked properly, you're at a higher risk of injury from the seat not functioning as it should.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will inspect the third-row seat, fix any installation mistakes, and replace any missing springs – all for free. You'll get a notice in the mail with next steps, but you can also reach out to BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
