What Happened
The integrated brake system in your vehicle has a critical component called the rotor and shaft that helps your brakes work properly. In some affected 2020-2021 models, this part might not have been assembled correctly.
Risk if Unfixed
If the rotor and shaft separate during hard braking, you could lose your ABS and braking assistance. This could make it harder to stop your vehicle safely, increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the entire integrated brake system with a new one, at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair as soon as you receive the recall notice, which was mailed on May 25, 2021.
