Component
AIR BAGS:CRITICAL FASTENERS
Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The critical fasteners in your X6, X7, X5, or X5 Plug-In Hybrid are small parts that hold the passenger-side air bag in place. However, in some 2026 models, these fasteners were installed incorrectly, which could affect the air bag's deployment.
Risk if Unfixed
If a crash occurs and the air bag doesn't deploy as it should, you could be at greater risk of injury. This is a serious safety concern that shouldn't be ignored.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the faulty instrument panel trim, which should fix the issue and ensure your air bag deploys correctly. This repair is free of charge, and you can schedule it by contacting BMW customer service directly.
