What Happened
The steering rack in your vehicle is a critical part that helps guide the front wheels. It's held in place by bolts that can corrode over time, especially in areas with high humidity.
Risk if Unfixed
If one of these bolts breaks, the steering rack can shatter, and you could lose control of your vehicle's direction. This makes it harder to steer, and increases the risk of a serious crash.
Free Fix
Your Volkswagen dealer will replace the corroded bolt that attaches the steering rack to the subframe, at no cost to you. You should schedule this repair as soon as you receive the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2018 Tiguan, 2018-2019 Atlas, and 2019-2021 Audi Q3 vehicles. One of the bolts that attaches the steering rack to the subframe may corrode and break. If this happens, the steering rack housing can break.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
A broken steering rack housing can result in a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Original — Remedy
Dealers will replace the right-side steering rack mounting bolt, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 10, 2026. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Volkswagen's numbers for this recall are 48LG and 48VT. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on September 16, 2026.

What Happened
A critical component in your vehicle's steering system, the belt pulley, may not be working properly due to a production deviation, which can cause the circlip to get stuck.
Risk if Unfixed
If the circlip detaches, it could get caught on other parts and cause the steering to lock, which can increase the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Audi will notify you and replace your steering rack free of charge, so you don't need to do anything except wait for their notification and schedule a free repair at a dealership.

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Audi) is recalling one 2019 Audi Q3 vehicle. Production deviation in the belt pully can prevent the circlip from properly engaging the steering rack.
