The bolts on your vehicle's chassis, brake system, and suspension are crucial for keeping your vehicle stable and safe. In some 2023-2025 Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport, and 2023-2024 ID.4 models, these bolts might not have been tightened correctly during assembly.
Risk if Unfixed
If these bolts fail, your vehicle could lose control while driving, which increases the risk of a serious crash.
Free Fix

Your 2024-2025 Atlas or Atlas Cross Sport's engine cover might not be properly secured after a service visit.
Risk if Unfixed
If the engine cover comes loose and touches hot engine parts, it could melt, potentially causing a fire.

The dealership will remove the engine cover for free. You should contact Volkswagen customer service at 800-893-5298 or wait for the notification letter you received on March 7, 2025.

What Happened
The occupant classification system in your front passenger seat is a sensor that decides whether to deploy the air bag in the event of a crash. In some 2021-2024 Atlas and 2020-2024 Atlas Cross Sport models, the wiring for this sensor can fail, causing the air bag to turn off when someone is sitting in the passenger seat.
Risk if Unfixed
If the air bag doesn't deploy when it's supposed to, you're more likely to get hurt in a crash. This is especially serious because the air bag can help cushion the impact and reduce injury.
Free Fix
Your Volkswagen dealer will replace the faulty sensor mat and wiring harness with new ones at no cost to you. You'll get a letter from Volkswagen telling you when the repair is needed, and you should schedule it as soon as possible to ensure your safety on the road.

What Happened
The rearview camera system in your vehicle helps you see what's behind you when you're reversing. In some 2022-2024 Golf R, Golf GTI, Atlas, and Atlas Cross Sport models, the camera image may be delayed or turned off after you shift into reverse gear.
Risk if Unfixed
If the camera image is delayed or turned off, you'll have a harder time seeing what's behind your vehicle. This could increase the risk of a crash or injury, especially in situations where you're relying on the camera to help you back up safely.
Free Fix
Your Volkswagen dealer will update the infotainment system software to fix the issue, and the repair is completely free. You should schedule the update as soon as you get the recall notice.
