What Happened
The steering column control module is like the brain of your steering system. In some 2023-2024 Ram models, this module can get confused and mix up your turn signals and high beams, making it harder to drive safely.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, you might get confused or other drivers might not see you clearly, which could lead to a crash.
Free Fix
Your Ram dealer will update the steering column control module's software and replace the module if needed, all for free. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2023 Ram 1500 Classic, Ram 3500 Classic, 3500 Cab Chassis, 2023-2024 Ram 2500, 4500/5500 Cab Chassis, and Ram 3500 vehicles. The steering column control module may cause the high beams to activate when the turn signal is used or activate the turn signal when the high beams are used. In addition, the turn signal self-canceling feature may not function properly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Original — Remedy
Dealers will update the steering column control module (SCCM) software, and inspect and replace the module, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 19, 2023. The steering column control module in your vehicle is a critical safety component that regulates your air bag. In some 2023-2024 models, it may not be welded properly, which could prevent your driver's air bag from deploying in a crash.

If your driver's air bag doesn't deploy in a crash, you're at a higher risk of serious injury. This is a life-threatening situation that requires immediate attention.

The steering column control module may not be welded properly, which can prevent the driver's air bag from deploying in a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

What Happened
The heater grid relay in your Ram 2500, 3500, 4500, or 5500 is a crucial electrical part that helps control the engine. In some 2021-2023 models with a Cummins 6.7L Turbo Diesel engine, a short circuit can occur in this relay.
Risk if Unfixed
If a short circuit happens, the engine compartment could catch fire, even with the ignition on or off. This is a serious risk of injury or damage to your vehicle.
Free Fix
Your dealer will replace the faulty relay for free. Park your vehicle outside and away from structures until the repair is done. You'll receive a recall notice with instructions on how to schedule the repair.

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2021-2023 Ram 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis, and 4500, 5500 Cab Chassis vehicles equipped with a Cummins 6.7L Turbo Diesel engine. An electrical short may occur in the heater grid relay with the ignition on or off.

An electrical short in the relay can result in an engine compartment fire with the ignition on or off, increasing the risk of injury.

Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will replace the relay, free of charge. This will be a Phased campaign. Phase 1 will include 2023 model year vehicles. FCA US will notify dealers on or about 3/23/2023 and begin notifying owners on or about 4/5/2023. Phase 2 will include 2022 model year vehicles and Phase 3 will include 2021 model year vehicles. FCA US will notify dealers and owners on or about 4/27/2023 for Phase 2 and 5/11/2023 for Phase 3. Interim owner notification letters informing owners of the safety risk were mailed March 28, 2023. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed April 5, 2023. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 13A. This recall is an expansion of and supersedes recall number 21V-798.

What Happened
The trailer hitch on your Ram 4500 is the metal bracket that connects to your truck's frame, securing your trailer in place. However, some of these hitches were installed with too few bolts, which can cause the entire assembly to come loose.

If the trailer hitch comes loose, it could detach while you're driving, creating a hazard for other vehicles on the road and increasing the risk of a crash.
