What Happened
The steering column control module in your Ram is a critical part that helps your air bag deploy properly. In some 2021-2022 models, this module could fail, preventing the air bag from working as it should.

Original — What Happened
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Ram 1500, Ram 2500, Ram 3500, Ram 4500, and Ram 5500 vehicles. The steering column control module may cause the driver's side air bag not to deploy as intended. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Dealers will replace the steering column control module, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning December 11, 2025. What Happened
The lug nuts on your truck are the bolts that hold your wheels in place. In some 2012-2021 RAM model years, the owner's manual has incorrect information about how tight they should be.
Risk if Unfixed
If the lug nuts are over-tightened, a wheel stud could break, causing the wheel to come loose and potentially leading to a serious crash.
Free Fix
Your dealer will update your owner's manual with the correct tightening instructions and inspect your wheel studs. If any are damaged, they'll replace them for free, so be sure to schedule the repair when you get the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2012-2021 RAM 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis, 4500 Cab Chassis, and 5500 Cab Chassis vehicles. Incorrect information in the Service and Owner's Manuals may cause the flanged lug nuts to be over-tightened, which could result in a broken wheel stud and possible wheel separation.

What Happened
The heater grid relay in your Ram truck is a small electrical component that helps control the temperature in the engine compartment. In your 2021-2023 Ram 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis, or 4500, 5500 Cab Chassis with a Cummins 6.7L Turbo Diesel engine, this relay might develop an electrical short.
Risk if Unfixed
If the relay shorts out, it could cause a fire in the engine compartment, even with the ignition off, which is a serious safety risk and could lead to injury.
Free Fix
Your dealer will replace the faulty relay with a new one at no cost to you. For now, please park your vehicle outside and away from any structures until the repair is done. You'll receive a notification with more information and should contact your dealer to schedule the repair.

Phase 1 will include 2023 model year vehicles. FCA US will notify dealers on or about 3/23/2023 and begin notifying owners on or about 4/5/2023. Phase 2 will include 2022 model year vehicles and Phase 3 will include 2021 model year vehicles. FCA US will notify dealers and owners on or about 4/27/2023 for Phase 2 and 5/11/2023 for Phase 3. Interim owner notification letters informing owners of the safety risk were mailed March 28, 2023. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed April 5, 2023.
