Component

EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS:SWITCH

Manufacturer
Nissan North America, Inc.
What Happened
The brake light switch in your Sentra is what tells your brake lights to turn on when you press the brake pedal. In some 2016-2019 models, dirt and grime can get stuck in this switch, stopping the lights from working.
Risk if Unfixed
If your brake lights don't turn on, other drivers may not know you're slowing down or stopped, increasing the risk of a rear-end collision.
Free Fix
Your Nissan dealer will replace the faulty brake light switch and add a protective cover to keep it clean, all at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice.

BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA

Manufacturer
Nissan North America, Inc.
What Happened
The back-up camera in your vehicle is the system that shows you what's behind your car when you're in reverse. In some 2018-2019 models, the camera settings can be adjusted to hide the image, and it'll remember that setting next time you're in reverse.
Risk if Unfixed
If you can't see what's behind your car when reversing, you're more likely to crash into something or someone — which could lead to serious injury or damage.
Free Fix
Your Nissan dealer will update the camera settings software to make sure the image shows up when you need it. This repair is free, and you'll be notified by Nissan when it's time to schedule the update.
