What Happened
The steering shaft sector is a critical part in your vehicle's steering system. It's the part that connects your steering wheel to the wheels. In some 2010 Frontier, Pathfinder, and Xterra models, the fasteners that hold this part in place might not be tightened properly.
Risk if Unfixed
If there's a crash, the airbag in front of you might not deploy correctly. Also, the steering shaft could come loose, making it harder to control your vehicle, which could increase the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Nissan dealer will inspect the steering column and tighten the fasteners to the right amount, and replace any missing ones free of charge. This repair is already underway, so you should contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261 to schedule it.
