FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:AUXILLARY TANK

Manufacturer
NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, INC.
What Happened
The auxiliary fuel tank in your vehicle is a smaller tank that helps when you need extra fuel. In some 2006 and 2008 Frontier, Xterra, and Pathfinder models, this tank's shell can warp and cause the fuel gauge to show a quarter full when the tank is actually empty.
Risk if Unfixed
If your gauge is wrong, you might think you have gas when you really don't. This can cause your vehicle to run out of fuel and stall in traffic, which increases the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Nissan dealer will replace the faulty fuel sending unit with a new one that's designed to work correctly, all at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
NISSAN IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2006 AND MODEL YEAR 2008 FRONTIER, XTERRA AND PATHFINDER VEHICLES. THE MOLDED FUEL TANK SHELLS CAN DEFORM, CAUSING THE FUEL SENDER FLOAT ARM TO CONTACT AN EMBOSSMENT MOLDED INTO THE TANK SHELL CAUSING THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FUEL GAUGE TO SHOW THAT THE VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY ONE QUARTER TANK WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS EMPTY.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
THIS COULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO RUN OUT OF GAS AND STALL IN TRAFFIC, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Original — Remedy
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT INSIDE THE FUEL TANK WITH A NEW ONE THAT HAS A MODIFIED FLOAT ARM. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR BEFORE MARCH 22, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261.

AIR BAGS:FRONTAL

Manufacturer
Nissan North America, Inc.
What Happened
The air bag cover on your vehicle has a small emblem that's held on with a special resin. In some 2008-2011 Titans, Frontiers, Xterras, Pathfinders, Armadas, and Quests, this emblem can crack and break loose during an air bag deployment.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, the emblem could fly off and hit you or someone else in the vehicle, causing injury. This is a serious safety risk, especially in a collision.
Free Fix
Your Nissan dealer will replace the airbag cover for free, as soon as possible. You should schedule the repair when you receive the recall notice, which was mailed on December 8, 2023.

SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER ARM

What Happened
The lower control arm in your vehicle is a metal piece that connects the suspension to the chassis. In some affected models, the welds that hold it together might not be strong enough, which could cause a problem.
Risk if Unfixed
If the welds fail, the lower control arm could break, making your vehicle harder to handle. This could increase the risk of a crash, especially when driving at high speeds or making sharp turns.
Free Fix
Your Nissan dealer will replace the affected lower control arm with a new one, free of charge. You'll get a notification letter and should schedule the repair as soon as possible.

AIR BAGS:FRONTAL

Manufacturer
NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, INC.
What Happened
The front crash zone sensor in your vehicle is a crucial part that helps the airbags deploy correctly. In some 2005-2009 Pathfinder, Frontier, and Xterra models, this sensor can be damaged by road salt and water, which can cause it to fail.
Risk if Unfixed
If the sensor fails, the airbags won't deploy properly in a crash, which could lead to serious injuries. You could be at risk of more harm than necessary if you're in a front-end collision.
Free Fix
Your Nissan dealer will replace the faulty sensor with a new, improved one at no cost to you. If you live in a state that uses a lot of road salt, this fix is already taken care of. Otherwise, you'll receive extended warranty coverage for the sensor for 10 years.
