What Happened
The Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system in your Durango or Grand Cherokee is a safety feature that helps you stay in control while driving. It's controlled by a module called the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM). In certain 2014 models, the SCCM software may not work as intended.
Risk if Unfixed
If the ESC is disabled, you could lose control of your vehicle in certain driving situations, like sharp turns or slippery roads. This could lead to a crash.
Free Fix
Your dealer will update the SCCM software to fix the issue, and this repair is free. You should schedule the update as soon as you get the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2014 Dodge Durango, and Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles manufactured October 3, 2013, to April 11, 2014. Due to an issue with the software for the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM), the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) may be disabled.

If the ESC is disabled during certain driving situations, the driver may not be able to adequately control the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Original — Remedy
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the SCCM software, free of charge. The recall began on November 24, 2014. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is P64.
