POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:GEAR POSITION INDICATION (PRNDL)

Manufacturer
Ford Motor Company
What Happened
The gear position indication system in your vehicle helps you know what gear you're in. The bushing that connects the gear selector to the transmission can wear out or break over time, especially on certain models.
Risk if Unfixed
If the bushing fails, your vehicle may not shift into the gear you think you've selected, and you could accidentally move in an unexpected direction. This could also cause your vehicle to roll away after you think you've put it in 'Park', which could lead to a crash or injury.
Free Fix
Your Ford dealer will replace the worn-out bushing and add a protective cover to prevent future damage – all for free. You'll get a notification letter with instructions on how to proceed, and the repair parts should be available soon.

Original — Risk if Unfixed
A damaged or missing bushing may prevent the vehicle from shifting into the intended gear, and cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction. Additionally, the vehicle may roll after the driver selects the 'Park' position. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash or injury.
Original — Remedy
Dealers will replace the under hood shift bushing and add a protective cap over the shift cable bushing, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters, informing owners of the safety risk, were mailed July 1, 2022. Remedy parts are expected to be available in 4th Quarter 2022. Owner notification letters were mailed October 27, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22S43.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION

Manufacturer
Ford Motor Company
What Happened
The ignition system in your Escape, Focus, or C-Max is responsible for turning the engine on and off. In some 2015 models, it could get stuck in the 'on' position, even if you turn the key or press the start button to shut it off.
Risk if Unfixed
If the engine doesn't turn off when you expect it to, someone could shift the transmission out of park without realizing it, causing the vehicle to move unexpectedly. This could lead to a crash, especially if you're parked on a slope or near traffic.
Free Fix
Your Ford dealer will update the software in your vehicle's computer to fix the problem, and the repair is free. You'll get a notification when the update is available, and you should schedule the service as soon as possible.
