POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:GEAR POSITION INDICATION (PRNDL)
Manufacturer
Ford Motor Company
What Happened
The gear position indicator on your vehicle is a small part that helps your transmission shift gears smoothly. In your 2013-2021 model, the bushing that connects this indicator to the transmission might wear out or come loose over time.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, your gearshift may not work correctly, and you might accidentally move your vehicle in an unexpected direction. Even worse, the vehicle could roll away from you when you think it's in 'Park', which could cause a crash or injury.
Free Fix
Your Ford dealer will replace the worn-out bushing and add a protective cover to the shift cable, all at no cost to you. You'll get a notification letter, but you can also call Ford's customer service at 1-866-436-7332 to schedule the repair as soon as possible.

Risk if Unfixed
If the rearview camera fails to display an accurate image, you'll have a reduced view of what's behind your vehicle. This could lead to a higher risk of a crash, especially when reversing into a parking spot or backing out of a driveway.
Free Fix
Your Ford dealer will inspect the rearview camera and replace it if necessary – at no cost to you. You should schedule this repair as soon as you receive the recall notice, which was sent out on January 2, 2026.
