What Happened
The driver's air bag inflator is a crucial safety device that can deploy in a crash to protect you. In some 2014-2017 Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, and GMC Acadia models, the inflator itself can malfunction and explode during deployment.
Risk if Unfixed
If the inflator explodes, it could send sharp metal fragments flying towards you or other passengers, leading to serious injury or even death.
Free Fix
Your dealer will replace the faulty air bag module with a safe one, free of charge. You should schedule the repair as soon as possible once you receive the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2014-2017 Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, and GMC Acadia vehicles. The driver's air bag inflator may explode during deployment, due to a manufacturing defect.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants, resulting in serious injury or death.
Original — Remedy
Dealers will replace the driver's air bag module, free of charge. GM began mailing final owner letters February 23, 2024 and will continue mailing through December 2025. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N232404980.

The driver's air bag in your Enclave or Traverse is designed to deploy in a crash to protect you. However, in some 2008-2017 models, the inflator inside this air bag could rupture and send sharp metal fragments flying.

If the air bag inflator explodes, it could shoot sharp metal into you or your passengers, causing severe injury or even death.
Free Fix
Your Buick or Chevrolet dealer will replace the faulty air bag module with a safe one, at no cost to you. This repair is urgent, and you should schedule it as soon as possible.
