Component
STEERING:COLUMN
Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The steering column in your vehicle is like a long, flexible rod that connects your steering wheel to the front wheels. In some 2021 X5, X6, and X7 models, the joint that connects this rod might not have been tightened properly.
Risk if Unfixed
If the joint loosens, it could cause your steering to feel off, making it harder to control the vehicle. This could increase the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will inspect the joint and replace it – or the entire steering column shaft and joint – with a new one, all for free. You should schedule an appointment as soon as you get the recall notice.
