What Happened
The headlight system in your vehicle has a blue light that's supposed to be off when it's not time for daytime running lights. In some 2020-2021 X5, X6, and X7 models, this blue light can turn on unexpectedly.
Risk if Unfixed
If the blue light is on when it shouldn't be, oncoming drivers might think your car's headlights are on and be confused. This could lead to a potential crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will check the headlight system and replace it if necessary, at no cost to you. You'll be notified when it's time to have this done, and you can contact BMW at 1-800-525-7417 for more info.

Original — What Happened
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2020-2021 X5 sDrive40i, xDrive40i, xDrive50i, X5 M50i, X5M, X6 sDrive40i, xDrive40i, X6 M50i, X6M, X7 M50i and 2021 X5 xDrive45e vehicles. The headlamps may allow a blue light to illuminate. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
