Component

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING:FUSES AND CIRCUIT BREAKERS

Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The positive battery cable in your vehicle connects your battery to the fuse box. In some 2008-2011 BMW models, this connection can wear out, causing your electrical power to flicker on and off.
Risk if Unfixed
If the connection fails, your vehicle could stall, and you'll lose power steering and other essential systems. This can make it hard to control your vehicle and increase the chance of a crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace and secure the positive battery cable connector at no cost to you. You should schedule this repair as soon as you get the recall notice.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING

Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The wiring harness in your vehicle is like the nervous system that connects all the electrical components. In some 2006-2011 BMW models, the wiring and connectors can overheat, causing problems with your heating and air conditioning system.
Risk if Unfixed
If the wiring overheats, it could cause the electrical connectors to melt, which could lead to a fire - even if you're not driving the car. This could happen when the vehicle is parked or unattended.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the faulty wiring and connectors with new ones, free of charge. You'll receive a second notice when the repair is ready, and you can schedule the work then.
