AIR BAGS:SIDE/WINDOW

Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The side airbag in your vehicle is a safety feature that deploys in a side collision to cushion the impact. The inflator is the part that fills the airbag with gas. In some 2014-2015 BMW models, the weld joint in the inflator can fail, allowing gas to leak or the inflator to rupture.
Risk if Unfixed
If the inflator ruptures, it could spray sharp metal fragments into the vehicle, putting you at risk of serious injury. If gas leaks, the airbag might not inflate fully during a side collision, leaving you without protection.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the faulty side airbag with a new one, free of charge. You'll receive a notification letter, and you should schedule the repair as soon as possible to ensure your safety on the road.
