What Happened
Your vehicle has a double clutch transmission that may not work properly when you quickly slow down. The software controlling the transmission might make the engine stall at low speeds.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, your car might stall while driving slowly, which increases the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
We'll update the transmission's software for free, and the dealership will take care of it. You can contact BMW at 1-800-831-1117 to schedule an appointment.

Original — What Happened
BMW IS RECALLING 2,500 MY 2008-2009 M3 PASSENGER VEHICLES WITH AN OPTIONAL DOUBLE CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. THE PROBLEM INVOLVES THE DOUBLE CLUTCH GEARBOX. IN A SITUATION OF RAPID VEHICLE DECELERATION, THE TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE MAY PERFORM A MULTISTAGE DOWNSHIFT.

AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE

What Happened
The driver's side airbag in your vehicle is the part that deploys to keep you safe in a crash. Unfortunately, some of these airbags were made with a type of propellant that can break down over time, especially in humid or hot conditions.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, the airbag could explode and send sharp metal fragments flying towards you or other passengers. This could cause serious injury or even be fatal.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the faulty airbag inflator with a new, safer one — free of charge. You should schedule a repair as soon as you get a notice from BMW.

Original — Remedy

What Happened
Your vehicle's driver-side airbag is a safety feature that inflates in the event of a crash to protect you. In certain models, the airbag's inflator might not work properly, which could cause it to burst.

If the airbag bursts during a crash, metal fragments could fly towards you or your passengers, causing serious injury or even death. This is a life-threatening risk that you should take seriously.

Your BMW dealer will replace the faulty airbag module or inflator with a safe one, at no cost to you. You'll get a notification from BMW, and you should schedule the repair as soon as possible.

Your vehicle has electrical wiring that controls the heating and air conditioning system. In certain 2006-2011 BMW models, this wiring can get too hot and cause problems.

If the wiring overheats, it can melt the electrical connectors, which could cause a fire even when your car is parked and unattended.
