Component
COMMUNICATION: AUTO CRASH NOTIFICATION
Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The eCall system in your vehicle is designed to send your location and emergency information to first responders in case of a crash. However, a software glitch might disable this feature without you even realizing it.
Risk if Unfixed
If you're in an emergency and the eCall system isn't working, first responders might not know where you are or that you need help, which could lead to a delay in getting medical attention and potentially increase the risk of serious injury.
Free Fix
BMW will update the software in your vehicle's control unit, either remotely or at a dealer, to ensure the eCall system works correctly, and it will be done at no cost to you. You'll get a recall notice in the mail on September 12, 2025, and can also contact BMW at 1-800-525-7417 if you have any questions.
