Component
ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:GASOLINE:TURBO/SUPERCHARGER
Manufacturer
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.
What Happened
The turbocharger in your vehicle is a critical part that helps your engine breathe and run smoothly. The oil supply strainer is a small filter that keeps the oil flowing to the turbocharger, but it can clog up and cause problems if it's not working properly, especially in your 2013-2017 A8, S6 Sedan, S7, S8, or 2014-2017 RS7 model.
Risk if Unfixed
If the oil strainer gets clogged, the bearings inside the turbocharger can wear out, causing the turbine wheel to rub against the housing or the shaft to break. This could cause your engine to stall, which can make it difficult to control your vehicle and increase the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Audi dealer will replace the oil strainer and perform a fresh oil change, all free of charge. You should schedule the repair as soon as you receive the recall notice in the mail.
