Component
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:BODY CONTROL MODULE/BCM
Manufacturer
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.
What Happened
The gateway control module is a computer that helps manage your Audi's functions. It's located near the rear seat, and in some 2018-2022 Q5 and SQ5 models, it's vulnerable to damage from water or liquid spills.
Risk if Unfixed
If water gets into the control module, it could shut down suddenly while you're driving, reducing your engine power and making it harder to control your vehicle. This could lead to a crash.
Free Fix
Audi dealers will install a protective cover on the control module and seal any gaps under your vehicle to prevent water from getting in. This repair is free, and you should schedule it as soon as you receive the recall notice.
