Component
EXTERIOR LIGHTING
Manufacturer
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.)
What Happened
The tailgate lid light on your Acura MDX is the part that lights up when you open or close the trunk. In certain 2014-2020 models, water could seep inside and damage the lights and wiring, causing them to fail.
Risk if Unfixed
If the lights on your MDX fail, you'll have reduced visibility at night or in low-light conditions, making it harder to see other cars, pedestrians, or hazards on the road, which could increase the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Acura dealer will inspect the wiring and fix any damage, replace the faulty lid light, and seal the body to keep water out – all at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice.
