A loose or missing bolt may decrease the structural protection of the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.

The automatic locking retractor in your vehicle's seat belt is a safety mechanism that helps keep your child secure in their car seat. In certain models, this part can malfunction and stop working too early, preventing your child's seat from being properly secured.
Risk if Unfixed
If the retractor fails, the child restraint system won't work as it should, which can put your child at risk of serious injury in the event of a crash.

Your Volvo dealer will inspect and replace the seat belt assembly if necessary, at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair as soon as possible after receiving the recall notice.

Volvo Car USA, LLC (Volvo Car) is recalling certain 2021 XC40, XC 40 Recharge, V60CC, V90, V90CC, XC90, and 2021-2022 V60, XC60, S60 vehicles. The seat belt automatic locking retractors may deactivate early, which can prevent the child restraint system from securing properly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

The rearview camera system in your vehicle uses software to display a live image of what's behind you when you're in reverse. Unfortunately, some 2021-2025 models might have a glitch that prevents this image from showing up.
Risk if Unfixed
If the camera image doesn't display when you're reversing, you'll have a reduced view of the area behind your vehicle, which could lead to a crash, especially when backing up or parking.
Free Fix
Your Volvo dealer will update the camera system software for free, or you can get it done through an over-the-air update. This is a free fix, and you should schedule it as soon as you receive the recall notice.
