Free Fix
Your Volvo dealer will inspect the fuel pump and replace it with a new, improved design, free of charge. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

Manufacturer
VOLVO CARS OF N.A. LLC.
What Happened
The fuel pressure sensor in your vehicle is like a tiny gauge that checks the fuel pressure in your engine. In some cases, this gauge can send faulty readings to the engine control module.
Risk if Unfixed
If the gauge sends the wrong reading, your engine might misfire, which could make it harder to accelerate or even stall without warning. If this happens while you're driving, especially in heavy traffic, it could create a hazardous situation.
Free Fix
Your Volvo dealer will replace the faulty fuel pressure sensor with a new one, at no cost to you. This repair is free, and you should schedule it as soon as possible.
Show original NHTSA language
Original — What Happened
ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, THE FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR LOCATED ON THE LEFT END OF THE FUEL RAIL MAY, AT TIMES, TRANSMIT INCORRECT SIGNAL REGARDING THE FUEL PRESSURE TO THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE. IF THE SIGNAL IS OUTSIDE OF THE PRE-PROGRAMMED ALLOWABLE LIMITS, A DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE MAY BE SET AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON. THE SOLDERED JOINTS ON THE CIRCUIT BOARD OF THE FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR MAY CRACK DUE TO TEMPERATURE CHANGES AND EXCESSIVE VIBRATIONS.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
MISFIRE MAY OCCUR DURING DRIVING THAT, IN TURN, WILL REDUCE THE ENGINE TORQUE AND IN THE WORST CASE SCENARIO, THE ENGINE MAY STALL WITHOUT WARNING. IN CERTAIN TRAFFIC SITUATIONS THIS COULD CAUSE AN UNSAFE SITUATION AND POSSIBLY A CRASH.
Original — Remedy
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JUNE 29, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT VOLVO AT 1-800-458-1552.

STEERING:LINKAGES

Manufacturer
VOLVO CARS OF N.A. LLC.
What Happened
The front control arms in your vehicle are the metal rods that connect the steering wheel to the front wheels. They might not have been made correctly, which means they could come loose over time.
Risk if Unfixed
If the control arm comes loose, your steering could feel loose or wobbly, making it harder to control the vehicle. This condition could eventually cause the control arm to separate from the spindle, which could lead to a crash.
Free Fix
Your Volvo dealer will replace the nut that secures the control arm with a new, improved one at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair as soon as possible, especially if you notice any unusual steering issues.
Show original NHTSA language
Original — What Happened
ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, THE FRONT CONTROL ARMS MAY NOT HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED CORRECTLY AND, AS A RESULT, THE STUD AND NUT THAT SECURE THE ARM TO THE SPINDLE MAY LOSE THEIR INITIAL AXIAL TENSION. UNDER CERTAIN DRIVING CONDITIONS, THE STEERING MAY BECOME LESS RESPONSIVE AND THE DRIVER MAY EXPERIENCE STEERING WHEEL PLAY.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
THIS DRIVING CONDITION COULD EVENTUALLY LEAD TO SEPARATION BETWEEN THE FRONT CONTROL ARM AND THE SPINDLE, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.
Original — Remedy
DEALERS WILL INSTALL A NEW TYPE OF NUT. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 16, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT VOLVO CARS AT 1-800-458-1552.
