What Happened
The master cylinder is a critical part of your vehicle's braking system, responsible for pressurizing the brake fluid that helps you slow down. In some cases, the seal on your master cylinder can break, causing brake fluid to leak out.
Risk if Unfixed
If the master cylinder seal fails, you'll lose brake fluid, which can lead to poor braking performance. This could cause you to have trouble stopping your vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

What Happened
The driver's air bag in your V70 or XC70 is the safety device that inflates to cushion the impact of a crash. In some 2001-2007 models, the air bag's propellant can degrade over time, causing it to malfunction.
Risk if Unfixed
If the air bag inflates improperly, it could explode, sending sharp metal fragments into you or your passengers, which could lead to serious injury or even death.
Free Fix
Your Volvo dealer will replace the faulty air bag with a new, safer one at no cost to you. Look for a recall notice in your mail, or contact Volvo Car's customer service at 1-888-458-1552 to schedule the repair.

Volvo Cars USA, LLC (Volvo Car) is recalling certain 2001-2007 V70 and XC70 vehicles. The driver's air bag inflator may explode during deployment, due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.

An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants, resulting in serious injury or death.

The portable GPS unit in your vehicle, made by Garmin, is like a separate GPS device that you can take with you. It may have a battery that can overheat and cause a fire.
Risk if Unfixed
If the battery overheats, it could catch fire, which could cause serious damage to your vehicle, but fortunately, this is not a risk to your safety while driving.
Free Fix
Your Volvo dealer will replace the battery with a new one, and install a protective spacer, all free of charge. You should schedule this service as soon as possible, and in the meantime, stop using the GPS device.
