What Happened
The side curtain-shield-air bags in your vehicle are designed to deploy in a crash to protect you from injury. However, in certain models, the computer that controls these bags might be misprogrammed, causing them to inflate unexpectedly — even when there's no crash.
Risk if Unfixed
If the side curtain-shield-air bags deploy without warning, it could cause injury to you or your passengers. This is because the bags could hit you or someone else in the vehicle, or even cause a distraction while driving.
Free Fix
Toyota will replace the faulty air bag control module with a new one that's correctly programmed, free of charge. You should schedule this repair as soon as possible to ensure your safety on the road.

Original — What Happened
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2003-2006 Toyota Land Cruiser and Lexus LX470, 2005-2006 Toyota Tundra and Sequoia, 2004-2006 Toyota 4Runner and Lexus GX470 vehicles equipped with side curtain-shield-air bags. The affected vehicles have an air bag control module that may be improperly programmed, causing the side curtain-shield-air bags to deploy inadvertently.
