Critical #23V755000 Plain English
Component

POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:PARK/NEUTRAL START INTERLOCK SWITCH

Manufacturer
Subaru of America, Inc.
What Happened
The park/neutral start interlock switch is a safety switch that helps you shift gears safely. In your Crosstrek, Forester, Legacy, or Outback, this switch might not be properly sealed, allowing water to seep in and cause it to fail.
Risk if Unfixed
If the inhibitor switch fails, your reverse lights won't turn on, and your rearview camera might not show an image. This could make it harder to see what's behind your vehicle when you're reversing, increasing the risk of a collision.
Free Fix
Your Subaru dealer will replace the faulty switch with a new one, at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair as soon as you receive the recall notice, and it's free.

AIR BAGS:SENSOR:OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION:FRONT PASSENGER

Manufacturer
Subaru of America, Inc.
What Happened
The Occupant Detection System (ODS) in your Outback or Legacy uses sensors to determine if the front passenger seat is occupied. One of the capacitors in these sensors could crack and cause the system to malfunction.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, the front passenger airbag might not deploy in a crash, which could lead to serious injury.
Free Fix
Your Subaru dealer will replace the faulty sensors with new ones at no cost to you. They'll contact you soon with a formal recall notice, but you can also reach out to Subaru directly at 1-844-373-6614 for more information.
