Component
POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:PARK/NEUTRAL START INTERLOCK SWITCH
What Happened
The inhibitor switch in your vehicle is like a safety lock that makes sure you can only shift gears when the transmission is in park. In some 2021-2023 models, the weld on this switch might not be strong enough, allowing water to get inside and cause it to fail.
Risk if Unfixed
If the inhibitor switch fails, your reverse lights won't turn on, and your rearview camera might not display anything. This could make it harder to see what's behind your vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Subaru dealer will replace the faulty inhibitor switch with a new one, and it's completely free. You should schedule the repair as soon as you receive the recall notice.
