SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK/TRACTION CONTROL/ELECTRONIC LIMITED SLIP:CONTROL UNIT/MODULE

Manufacturer
Nissan North America, Inc.
What Happened

If the valves don't work properly, you may need to press the brake pedal harder to stop your vehicle, which could increase the risk of an accident.
Free Fix

Original — What Happened
Nissan of North America, Inc (Nissan) is recalling certain 2009 Murano vehicles. The valves within the ABS Hydraulic Control Units (HCU) may react with brake fluids containing specific corrosion preventative additives. This reaction may cause the valves to not close properly.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
If the valves do not properly close, additional brake pedal travel may be required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Original — Remedy
Nissan has notified owners, and dealers will flush the brake system with DOT 4 fluid. The HCU will then be tested to detect a possible stuck valve condition. If necessary, the HCU will be replaced, free of charge. The recall began February 7, 2019. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669.

TIRES:PRESSURE MONITORING AND REGULATING SYSTEMS

Manufacturer
NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, INC.
What Happened
The tire pressure monitoring system in your vehicle uses a sensor-transmitter that's secured with a nut. In certain areas with heavy road salt, this nut can corrode and crack, causing the sensor to detach.
Risk if Unfixed
If you ignore the warning light and keep driving, the tire will slowly lose air, leading to a flat tire. This could increase the risk of a crash, especially if you're driving at high speeds or need to make sudden stops.
Free Fix
Your Nissan dealer will swap out the corroded nut for a new, more durable one. This repair is completely free, and you should schedule it as soon as you receive the recall notice.

NISSAN IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2008-2010 VEHICLES ORIGINALLY SOLD IN OR CURRENTLY REGISTERED IN THE STATES OF CONNECTICUT, DELAWARE, IOWA, ILLINOIS, INDIANA, MASSACHUSETTS, MAINE, MARYLAND, MICHIGAN, MINNESOTA, MISSOURI, NEW HAMPSHIRE, NEW JERSEY, NEW YORK, OHIO, PENNSYLVANIA, RHODE ISLAND, VERMONT, WASHINGTON D.C., WEST VIRGINIA AND WISCONSIN. THE MATERIAL IN THE NUT USED TO SECURE THE SENSOR-TRANSMITTER OF THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM (TPMS) MAY CORRODE AND POTENTIALLY CRACK IN AREAS WITH HEAVY CONCENTRATIONS OF ROAD SALT. IF THIS OCCURS, THE NUT MAY COME OUT OF THE SENSOR-TRANSMITTER AND THE TPMS LAMP WILL ILLUMINATE.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
IF THE TPMS LAMP IS DISREGARDED AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO BE DRIVEN IN THIS CONDITION, THE TIRE WILL QUICKLY LOSE AIR PRESSURE AT A CONSISTENT RATE RESULTING IN A FLAT TIRE INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Original — Remedy
THE DEALER WILL REPLACE THE TPMS NUT WITH A NEW, MORE ROBUST NUT. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR BEFORE NOVEMBER 9, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261 AND INFINITI AT 1-800-662-6200.

AIR BAGS

Manufacturer
NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, INC.
What Happened
The passenger air bag system in your vehicle relies on a sensor called the Occupant Classification System (OCS). Unfortunately, some of these sensors were made incorrectly and might not work properly.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, your passenger air bag could fail to deploy in a crash, leaving you without crucial protection. This is a serious issue that could put you and your passengers at risk of injury.
Free Fix
Your dealership will use a special tool to check the OCS signal, and if it's faulty, they'll replace the seat cushion with a new one that works correctly – free of charge. This is a free repair, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.
