AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE-INACTIVE

Manufacturer

What Happened
The restraint control module in your vehicle is the computer that helps control your airbags and seatbelts. In some cases, the screws holding the computer's circuit board in place might be missing.
Risk if Unfixed
If the screws are missing, your airbags and seatbelts may not work properly in a frontal collision, which could leave you with less protection than intended.
Free Fix
Your authorized dealer will inspect the restraint control module and crash sensors, and replace them if needed, at no cost to you.

AIR BAGS

Manufacturer
FORD MOTOR COMPANY
What Happened
The restraint control module in your vehicle is like the brain of your airbag system. It's supposed to detect potential problems and prevent your airbag or seatbelt from deploying unexpectedly, but in some cases, it might not work correctly.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, your airbag or seatbelt could deploy without warning when you start your car, which could cause serious injury.
Free Fix
Your authorized Ford dealer will replace the restraint control module with a new one, completely free of charge. You should schedule the repair as soon as possible and contact Ford at 1-800-392-3673 if you don't receive the fix within a reasonable time.

Original — What Happened
CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, LIMOUSINES, AND MINI VANS WERE BUILT WITH A NEWLY DESIGNED RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE (RCM). IN SOME CASES, THE RCM DOES NOT RECOGNIZE CERTAIN SYSTEM FAULTS THAT COULD RESULT IN AN AIR BAG OR SEAT BELT PRE-TENSIONER UNEXPECTEDLY ACTIVATING DURING THE SELF-TEST SEQUENCE AT VEHICLE START-UP.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
THIS CONDITION COULD RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY.
Original — Remedy
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE RCM IN THESE VEHICLES. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN SEPTEMBER 14, 2000. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT FORD AT 1-800-392-3673.
