What Happened
The steering column in your Accent is the long tube that connects your steering wheel to the front wheels. In some 2021-2022 models, a small bolt in this column might not be tightened properly.
Risk if Unfixed
If this bolt fails, the steering column could break off, and you'll lose control of your vehicle. This could cause a crash, putting you and others at risk.
Free Fix
Your Hyundai dealer will check and tighten the bolt that holds the steering column in place, free of charge. You should schedule this repair as soon as possible, and it's already been mailed to you in a recall notice.

Original — What Happened
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Accent vehicles. A bolt in the steering column may not be secured properly, which can cause the steering column to detach from the steering rack and result in a loss of steering control.

Loss of steering control can increase the risk of a crash.
Original — Remedy
Dealers will inspect and tighten the lower steering column u-joint retention bolt, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 5, 2022. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 226.
