Component
FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY
Manufacturer
HONDA (AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO.)
What Happened
The CNG tank in your vehicle holds the compressed natural gas that powers your car. This tank is located behind the rear seat and is designed to release excess pressure in case of a fire.
Risk if Unfixed
If a fire breaks out behind your rear seat and the tank gets heated unevenly, it could fail to release the pressure as it's supposed to. This could lead to the tank bursting, causing an explosion and potentially ejecting the tank from the vehicle.
Free Fix
Dealers will add a heat-insulating material to the rear seat back to prevent uneven heating. This repair is free, and you'll be notified when parts are available to have the work done.

Original — What Happened
ON CERTAIN COMPRESSED NATURAL GAS (CNG) VEHICLES, IN THE EVENT OF A SEVERE INTERIOR FIRE IN THE AREA OF THE REAR SEAT, THE CNG TANK MAY BE HEATED UNEVENLY, PREVENTING THE PRESSURE RELIEF DEVICE FROM VENTING THE CONTENTS OF THE TANK AS DESIGNED.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
THIS COULD RESULT IN A TANK RUPTURE, EXPLOSION, AND EJECTION OF THE TANK FROM THE VEHICLE.
