STEERING:HYDRAULIC POWER ASSIST:HOSE, PIPING, AND CONNECTIONS

Manufacturer
GENERAL MOTORS CORP.
What Happened
The power steering hose in your vehicle is a critical component that helps you turn the wheels easily. In your vehicle, there's a chance that the hose isn't up to spec, which could cause a problem.
Risk if Unfixed
If the hose fails under extreme driving conditions, you could lose power steering and power brake assist, making it harder to steer and brake. This could lead to an increase in steering effort and braking effort, and in the worst case, if the power steering fluid gets on hot engine parts, it could start a fire.
Free Fix
Your authorized dealer will inspect the power steering hose and replace it if it's one of the suspect parts. This repair is free, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES MAY HAVE BEEN BUILT WITH A POWER STEERING HOSE THAT IS NOT TO SPECIFICATION. UNDER EXTREME STEERING MANEUVERS, SUCH AS TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL FULLY TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT WHILE BRAKING, THE HOSE MAY FRACTURE AND LEAK FLUID.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
IF THIS WERE TO OCCUR, POWER STEERING ASSIST WOULD BE LOST AND INCREASED STEERING EFFORT WOULD BE REQUIRED. ON VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH HYDRO-BOOST POWER BRAKES, IT COULD ALSO RESULT IN LOSS OF POWER BRAKE ASSIST AND INCREASED BRAKING EFFORT WOULD BE REQUIRED. IF THE POWER STEERING FLUID SPRAY WERE TO SPRAY ONTO HOT ENGINE PARTS, AN ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE COULD OCCUR.
Original — Remedy
DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE POWER STEERING HOSE(S) FOR TWO SUSPECT DATE CODES AND REPLACE THEM IF REQUIRED. THE RECALL WILL BEGIN ON OCTOBER 14, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CHEVROLET AT 1-800-630-2438, GMC AT 1-866-996-9463, BUICK AT 1-866-608-8080, CADILLAC AT 1-866-982-2339, ISUZU AT 1-800-255-6727, OR HUMMER AT 1-800-732-5493.

AIR BAGS:FRONTAL

Manufacturer
GENERAL MOTORS CORP.
What Happened
The passenger air bag sensing system in your vehicle is a safety feature that helps decide whether to deploy the front passenger air bag. However, if you've had aftermarket leather seat covers installed, they might interfere with this system.
Risk if Unfixed
If the passenger air bag sensing system fails because of the seat covers, the air bag might not deploy when it should, or it might deploy when it shouldn't. This could increase the risk of injury to the front passenger in a crash.
Free Fix
Unfortunately, a new leather seat cover that's compatible with the passenger sensing system isn't available. As a result, General Motors will repurchase your vehicle to ensure your safety, and you should contact them at 1-877-477-1022 to start the repurchase process.
Show original NHTSA language
Original — What Happened
CERTAIN VEHICLES ORIGINALLY BUILT WITH CLOTH SEATS THAT WERE EQUIPPED WITH AN AUTOMATIC AIR BAG PASSENGER SENSING SYSTEM AND LATER REUPHOLSTERED WITH AFTERMARKET LEATHER SEAT COVER KITS ARE INVOLVED. TESTING HAS INDICATED THAT THE AFTERMARKET LEATHER SEAT COVERS CAN CAUSE THE PASSENGER SENSING SYSTEM TO MALFUNCTION.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
IF THE PASSENGER SENSING SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONS, THE FRONT AIR BAG ON THE PASSENGER SIDE MAY BE DISABLED WHEN IT SHOULD BE ENABLED, OR ENABLED WHEN IT SHOULD BE DISABLED. IN EITHER CASE, IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH THAT REQUIRES AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT, A FRONT PASSENGER'S LEVEL OF INJURY MAY BE INCREASED.
Original — Remedy
BECAUSE A REPLACEMENT LEATHER SEAT COVER THAT IS COMPATIBLE WITH THE PASSENGER SENSING SYSTEM IS NOT AVAILABLE, GENERAL MOTORS (GM) WILL REPURCHASE THESE VEHICLES IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE TERMS STATED IN GM'S LETTER TO OWNERS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 6, 2006. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT GM AT 1-877-477-1022 TO BEGIN THE PROCESS OF REPURCHASING THEIR VEHICLE.

VISIBILITY:POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS

Manufacturer
General Motors LLC
What Happened
The power window switch in your vehicle is the part that lets you roll your windows up and down. In some 2006-2007 Buick, Chevrolet, and GMC models, this switch can get water inside and corrode, causing it to malfunction.
Risk if Unfixed
If the switch corrodes, it could lead to a fire, even if your vehicle is parked and not in use. This is a serious situation that could cause damage to your vehicle and surrounding property.
Free Fix
Your dealer will install a new, water-resistant power window switch at no cost to you. This repair is free, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.
Show original NHTSA language
Original — What Happened
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2006-2007 Buick Rainier, Chevrolet Trailblazer and GMC Envoy vehicles, and 2006 GMC Envoy XL and Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT vehicles. Fluid may enter into the driver's door master power window switch module, causing corrosion that could result in a short in the circuit board, causing window switches to become inoperative. Previously, the affected vehicles may have had their master power window switch module treated with a protective coating, instead of having it replaced.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
The protective coating may not eliminate the risk that the circuit board could short and result in a fire, even while the vehicle is unattended.
Original — Remedy
GM will notify owners, and dealers will install a new driver's door switch module, free of charge. The recall began on November 2, 2015. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, and GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 15700.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS

Manufacturer
General Motors LLC
What Happened
Your vehicle's headlight driver module is a computer that controls your headlights and daytime running lights. In some affected models, this module can overheat and fail, turning off your headlights.
Risk if Unfixed
If your headlights don't work, it's harder for you to see the road at night, and other drivers can't see your vehicle as well. This increases the risk of a crash or being involved in an accident.
Free Fix
Your dealership will replace the faulty headlight driver module with a new one, free of charge. You should schedule the repair as soon as possible to ensure your safety on the road.

Original — What Happened
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix, 2006-2009 Buick LaCrosse, 2006-2007 Buick Rainier, Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT, GMC Envoy XL, 2006-2008 Isuzu Ascender, and Saab 9-7x vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the headlamp driver module (HDM) may overheat and fail, causing the headlamps and daytime running lights to not illuminate.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
Headlamps that do not illuminate reduce the driver's ability to see the roadway and reduce the vehicle's visibility to oncoming vehicles, both of which increase the risk of a vehicle crash.
Original — Remedy
GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the HDM, free of charge. The recall began on May 17, 2016. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300 or Pontiac customer service at 1-800-762-2737. GM's number for this recall is 14291.

VISIBILITY:POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS

Manufacturer
General Motors LLC
What Happened
The power window switch on your car is controlled by a small computer module. In some 2005-2007 Saab, Chevrolet, Buick, and GMC vehicles, fluid can leak into this module, causing it to corrode and potentially fail.
Risk if Unfixed
If the module fails, the power locks and windows might not work properly, and the door module could overheat, causing a fire that could burn your vehicle even when it's parked and not in use, risking injury or damage.
Free Fix
Your dealer will inspect the module and replace it with a new one, free of charge, as soon as parts are available. In the meantime, it's best to park your vehicle outside until the repair is done to avoid any potential risks.
