Component

AIR BAGS:FRONTAL

Manufacturer
GENERAL MOTORS CORP.
What Happened
Your vehicle's passenger airbag system is designed to deploy the front airbag if it senses there's someone in the passenger seat. However, if your car has an aftermarket leather seat cover, it might interfere with this system.
Risk if Unfixed
If the airbag system is compromised, the passenger airbag might not deploy when it should – or deploy when it shouldn't. This increases the risk of serious injury in a crash.
Free Fix
Unfortunately, there's no compatible replacement leather seat cover available. As a result, General Motors will buy your vehicle back. You should contact GM at 1-877-477-1022 to start the repurchase process.

Original — What Happened
CERTAIN VEHICLES ORIGINALLY BUILT WITH CLOTH SEATS THAT WERE EQUIPPED WITH AN AUTOMATIC AIR BAG PASSENGER SENSING SYSTEM AND LATER REUPHOLSTERED WITH AFTERMARKET LEATHER SEAT COVER KITS ARE INVOLVED. TESTING HAS INDICATED THAT THE AFTERMARKET LEATHER SEAT COVERS CAN CAUSE THE PASSENGER SENSING SYSTEM TO MALFUNCTION.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
IF THE PASSENGER SENSING SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONS, THE FRONT AIR BAG ON THE PASSENGER SIDE MAY BE DISABLED WHEN IT SHOULD BE ENABLED, OR ENABLED WHEN IT SHOULD BE DISABLED. IN EITHER CASE, IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH THAT REQUIRES AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT, A FRONT PASSENGER'S LEVEL OF INJURY MAY BE INCREASED.
Original — Remedy
BECAUSE A REPLACEMENT LEATHER SEAT COVER THAT IS COMPATIBLE WITH THE PASSENGER SENSING SYSTEM IS NOT AVAILABLE, GENERAL MOTORS (GM) WILL REPURCHASE THESE VEHICLES IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE TERMS STATED IN GM'S LETTER TO OWNERS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 6, 2006. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT GM AT 1-877-477-1022 TO BEGIN THE PROCESS OF REPURCHASING THEIR VEHICLE.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS

Manufacturer
MAXZONE AUTO PARTS CORPORATION
What Happened
The headlight assembly in your vehicle is made by Maxzone, and it's the part that helps shine light on the road ahead. However, there's a problem with the design of these assemblies, so the light might not be aimed correctly.
Risk if Unfixed
If the headlight isn't shining properly, you could lose visibility, especially at night or in low-visibility conditions. This could increase your risk of being involved in a vehicle crash.
Free Fix
Maxzone will contact you to offer a refund for the non-compliant headlight assembly. You should expect to hear from them soon, and you can also contact them at 909-822-3288 if you have questions or need more information.

Original — Risk if Unfixed

VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD

Manufacturer
GENERAL MOTORS CORP.
What Happened
The urethane bead that holds your windshield in place could have formed incorrectly during manufacturing, which might cause it to come loose over time.
Risk if Unfixed
If you're in a crash, the windshield might not stay attached, increasing the risk of injury to anyone inside the vehicle.
Free Fix
Your dealer will replace the windshield with a new one that's securely attached, and the repair is free. You should schedule the replacement as soon as possible.
