STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM

Manufacturer
Ford Motor Company
What Happened
The electric power steering assist system in your vehicle is like a helper that makes it easier to steer. It's controlled by a sensor that might fail and shut down the system.
Risk if Unfixed
If the power steering assist fails, you'll need to use more effort to steer the vehicle at low speeds, which could increase the risk of a crash. This is especially concerning if you're driving in heavy traffic or on uneven roads.
Free Fix
Your Ford dealer will check the steering system for any issues and replace the steering gear if needed, or update the steering system software if not. This repair is free, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.
