Component
STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM
Manufacturer
General Motors, LLC
What Happened
The power steering system in your vehicle is like the extra help that makes it easier to steer. In some 2016-2018 models, this system's electric assist can fail.
Risk if Unfixed
If the power steering assist goes out, you'll need to use more force to turn the wheel, especially when driving slowly. This could make it harder to control your vehicle, especially in tight spaces or on uneven roads, and might increase the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your authorized dealer will replace the power steering gear assembly with a new one, at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair as soon as you receive the recall notice.
