What Happened
The bolts that hold your windshield in place may not be secure, allowing water to get inside the electrical systems of your X4 or X6.
Risk if Unfixed
Water inside your vehicle's electrical systems could cause your headlights to fail or prevent your doors from closing properly, increasing the risk of a crash. In extreme cases, water could also cause an electrical short circuit, which may start a fire while you're parked or driving.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will inspect the windshield, reseal it, and replace any damaged electrical components for free. You'll get a notification letter by November 21, 2025, and you can also call BMW at 1-800-525-7417 to check on the status.

Original — What Happened
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2026 X4 and X6 vehicles. The windshield may not be sealed properly, allowing water to enter the power distribution box or electronic control unit.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
Water inside electrical components can cause a loss of headlights or door closing functions, increasing the risk of a crash. In addition, an electrical short circuit may occur, increasing the risk of a fire while parked or driving.

Dealers will inspect, reseal the windshield, and replace the vehicle control unit and wiring, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 21, 2025. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
