What Happened
The seat belt retractor in your 2 Series, X1, X2, or Mini Countryman S ALL4 has a small metal pin that helps lock the seat belt in place. Sometimes, this pin gets damaged during production.
Risk if Unfixed
If the seat belt retractor isn't working right, it may not hold you securely in your seat during a crash. This could lead to serious injury.
Free Fix
Your authorized BMW dealer will replace the faulty seat belts with new ones at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
BMW of North America, LLC is recalling certain 2026 2 Series Gran Coupe, X1, X2, and Mini Countryman S ALL4 vehicles. The housing pin in the rear (left and/or right) seat belt retractors may have been damaged during production, resulting in the retractor not locking the seat belt as intended. As such, these vehicles fail to comply to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 209, "Seat Belt Assemblies."

A damaged seat belt retractor may not properly restrain an occupant during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Original — Remedy
Dealers will replace the rear (left and/or right) seat belts, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 18, 2025. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov December 12, 2025.

What Happened
The front seat belt retractors in your vehicle are the parts that help keep you safe by pulling the seat belt back into the door when it's not in use. Unfortunately, some of these parts might have been damaged during manufacturing.
Risk if Unfixed
If the seat belt retractor is damaged, it could fail to properly restrain you in a collision, which increases the risk of serious injury.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the front seat belt retractors with new, undamaged ones at no cost to you. You'll get a recall notice in the mail, and you can also contact BMW at 1-800-525-7417 for more information.
