SEAT BELTS:FRONT:RETRACTOR

Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The seat belt retractors in your vehicle are the parts that help keep you and your passenger safe by pulling the seat belts back in. In some 2025-2026 X1, X2, MINI Cooper, and Countryman models, these retractors might have been damaged during production.
Risk if Unfixed
If your seat belt retractor is damaged, it might not work properly in a crash, which could lead to serious injury. This is because the seat belt might not be able to keep you securely restrained.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace both front seat belt retractors with new, undamaged ones, at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair as soon as possible to ensure your safety on the road.

ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC)

Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The Integrated Brake (IB) system in your vehicle is a critical safety feature that helps your car stop smoothly and stay stable. It's made up of several components that work together to assist your brakes and prevent skidding.
Risk if Unfixed
If the IB system fails, you could lose power brake assist, which means you'll have to press the brake pedal harder to stop. This could also cause your vehicle's antilock braking and stability control systems to stop working properly, making it harder to control your car and increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the faulty IB system for free, ensuring your vehicle's brakes and safety features work as intended. You should schedule the repair as soon as you receive the recall notice, and it's done at no cost to you.
