What Happened
The attachment brackets of your taillights are held together by a small piece of hardware. In some 2018-2019 BMW X1 models, this hardware has been contaminated, causing it to crack and weaken.
Risk if Unfixed
If a taillight detaches from your vehicle while you're driving, it could stop working, or it might even fall off and become a road hazard, which could lead to a crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will properly secure your taillights to prevent them from detaching, and this repair is completely free. You should schedule the fix as soon as you receive the recall notice.
