What Happened
The high-pressure fuel rail in your X1, X3, or 228i Gran Coupe is a critical part that helps send fuel to your engine. In some 2022 models, this rail can crack and start leaking fuel.
Risk if Unfixed
If the fuel rail cracks and leaks, you could be putting yourself at risk of a fire if you're near an ignition source, like a spark or flame, while the leak is happening.
Free Fix
Your authorized BMW dealer will replace the faulty fuel rail with a new one, at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair as soon as possible after receiving the recall notice.

BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2022 X1 xDrive 28i, X3 xDrive30i, and 228i Gran Coupe vehicles. The high-pressure fuel rail may crack and result in a fuel leak within the engine compartment.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
Original — Remedy
Dealers will replace the high-pressure fuel rail, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 19, 2022. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
