ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM:PUMP

Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The water pump in your engine is the part that helps keep your engine cool. In some 2012-2018 BMW models, the electrical connector on the pump wasn't sealed properly, making it vulnerable to water damage.
Risk if Unfixed
If water gets into the connector, it could cause an electrical short, leading to a fire in your engine compartment. This is a serious risk that could cause significant damage to your vehicle and potentially put you in harm's way.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will inspect the water pump and connector, replace them if necessary, and install a protective shield to prevent future issues. This repair is completely free, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.
