What Happened
The headlight on your motorcycle is the part that shines the low beam light on the road. In some 2021-2024 BMW R 18B and R 18 Transcontinental models, the attachment that holds the headlight in place can break, causing the light to shift and shine poorly.
Risk if Unfixed
If the low beam light isn't shining properly, you might have trouble seeing the road ahead, or you could blind oncoming traffic, increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will swap out your old headlamp for a new one that shines a clear, safe light. This repair is free, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2021-2024 BMW R 18B and R 18 Transcontinental motorcycles. The headlight low beam attachment points may break, shifting the reflector out of position, and resulting in insufficient illumination. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Dealers will replace the headlamp, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 5, 2024. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
