Risk if Unfixed
If this connection fails, your vehicle could lose power and stall, making it harder to control, which could increase the risk of a crash.

Component

POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:DRIVESHAFT

Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The driveshaft in your M3 or M4 is like a long, flexible rod that connects your transmission to your rear wheels. The part that connects these two rods, called the slip-joint, might not have enough grease in it.
Risk if Unfixed
If the slip-joint fails, your rear wheels could lose power, causing your vehicle to stop moving. This increases the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will inspect the driveshaft and replace it if necessary, all at no cost to you. They'll contact you when it's time to schedule the fix.
