What Happened
The power distribution module in your 2026 M4 or 430i is a critical part that helps get power to your engine and other vital systems. In some cases, the cables connecting it to the battery may not be secure, which can cause problems.
Risk if Unfixed
If the power cables aren't properly connected, your engine could stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash. A faulty connection could also cause a fire, which could lead to serious injury.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealership will inspect the cables and power distribution box to make sure they're secure. If necessary, they'll replace them for you – at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair as soon as possible after you receive the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2026 M4 and 430i vehicles. The positive battery cables may not be properly connected to the power distribution box, resulting in an engine stall and a fire.

Dealers will inspect and replace cables and power distribution box as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 20, 2025. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning November 17, 2025.
