What Happened
Your vehicle's seat belt warning system is designed to remind you to buckle up with a loud chime. But in certain 2019-2022 BMW models, the system might not work properly.
Risk if Unfixed
If this warning system fails, you might not hear the chime reminding you to buckle up. This increases the risk of injury in a crash, especially in a sudden stop or collision.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will update the software in your vehicle's audio system, ensuring the seat belt warning chime works as intended. This update is free, and you should schedule it as soon as you receive the recall notice.

What Happened
The Automatic Locking Retractor (ALR) in your seat belt is a safety mechanism that helps keep the seat belt in place during a crash. In some 2021 models of various BMW, MINI, and Rolls Royce vehicles, this mechanism might not work as designed, causing the seat belt to retract early.
Risk if Unfixed
If you're in a crash and your seat belt doesn't lock in place as it should, you could be at a higher risk of injury.
Free Fix
Your authorized BMW, MINI, or Rolls Royce dealer will inspect and replace the seat belt retractor if necessary, completely free of charge. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice in the mail.
